Yes, SystemX Ceramic Coatings should be thought of as adding another clear coat to the paint’s surface. This new clear coat is glossier, chemical resistant, and harder than the original clear coat. System X is a permanent coating in the same sense that the clear coat on your car is permanent. Eventually the clear coat will wear away over the years; its overall longevity depends on conditions, cleaning frequency and proper application.
All exterior surfaces including paint, metal, stainless steel, chrome, gel coat, plastic composites, exhaust and wheels can be treated by Crystal, Pro, Diamond, Renegade, and Xtreme. Don’t bother using System X ceramics on rubber or soft plastics – it doesn’t adhear well to those. System X Glass is formulated specifically for windshields, windscreens, windows, mirrors, and glass headlamps. System X Interior can be used on all interior surfaces including carpet, fabric, leather and vinyl.
SystemX provides additional gloss and protection shield over clear coats. The ceramic resin bonded coating helps contaminants slide off easily, which give them less time to eat into the surface. An added plus is the ease of cleaning your vehicle. An easy way to think of it would be that System X is the equivalent of another, harder and glossier clear coat layer.
No special washing, soap, or shampoo is required. Using an automated car wash is fine as well – touch less automated car washes are preferred as cloth car washes often have debris and stone chips left in the brushes/cloth from infrequent maintenance.
Yes, if desired waxing and sealing over System X coatings won’t damage it. Let System X coatings cure for at least 4 days before applying another product.
Remove bird waste as soon as possible. Saturate the dropping with water the wipe off. Avoid scraping.
This will happen over time due to eventual buildup of contaminants (like every other coating). Just clean the surface with a mild cleaner and wash off thoroughly with water. The hydrophobic effect is then reproduced.
Wash the surface, then completely dry. Pour small amount of System X onto applicator pad or cotton round, cover entire panel with a thin coating, allow to dry for 1-3 minutes depending on temprature, finish buff with a dry microfiber towel. Application sheets are available for each product offer.
System X products should not be used on rubber moldings or rubber seals. It won’t cause damage, but it won’t adhear well either.
Transit wrap, tape or glue lines, bug residue, road tar, and any other contaminants. All polishing must be done prior to application. Use a 20-50% IPA to water mix to mist the paint and wipe down with microfiber towel to remove these residues. An paint shop safe prep-solvent will also do the trick.
System X can be applied over any factory decals and will add gloss to your emblems.
Application of System X should be done on a single panel at a time (e.g. hood, fender, trunk) ensuring complete coverage and reducing the possibility of letting the product dry too long.
No special washing detergent is needed, though we suggest a washing with DAWN dish detergent for it’s oil and greese cleaning power. Any additional residue will be removed with an IPA wipe, or similar surface prep/silicone and wax removing product.
SystemX products will level themselves. No additional leveling is needed during evaporation.
Missed spots can be fixed easily. Just apply more SystemX to the missed area that was missed, then buff off. System X will level itself with the previously treated surface on its own.
If you let a spot over dry you have two options: If you applied it in the last hour or two, just reapply System X to the over dried section then buff it off right away. If more then 2 hours has past you need to get out the buffing compound and remove the over dried area by polishing.
System X will be dry to touch within 15 minutes, at which point the vehicle is ready to drive/use. Over the next 4 days System X will continue to become harder until the surface reaches a 9h hardness.
Yes, SystemX Crystal, Renegade, and Xtreme can be applied using a HVLP spray gun, however Pro and Diamond should be applied by hand.
After the coating has cured, it can only be removed by polishing (compounding) or wet sanding.
Yes, you may apply System X to carbon fiber shields, panels, and parts.
Yes, the product is safe to apply to car, truck, and motorcycle mufflers and pipes. System X withstands temperatures over 1000 degrees.
No.
While System X is easy to apply, attention must be paid to follow directions properly and wipe down the evaporated surface within the specified timeframe. Always test an inconspicuous area first.
Nitrile gloves should be worn. A respirator is recommended for applications in closed or poorly ventilated areas.
We recommend the following coverage for the best results. While we do have customers that stretch the coverage up to 200%, we do not recommend doing so. We think every application should be carried out to achieve the greatest performance. Remember, if you have extra product you can apply a second coat to horizontal surfaces, surfaces near the water line, and areas near exhaust ports.
